My grandmother never met a stack of pills she didn’t count and complain about.

My niece was turning three, so I flew to Texas for the Tangled-themed party. My sister-in-law must have spent hours and hours decorating and coming up with activities, but Kate’s favorite part was simply the balloons.
Bet you didn’t know the TGV goes all the way to Stuttgart. Well it does, which means going to Strasbough for the day is super easy. I even got to put my (puny) French skills to use, and people didn’t even look at me like I was trying to speak Klingon. Pretty sure that was less because of my improved linguistic abilities and more that the folks in Strasbough are nicer than your typical Parisian.
Carmen Sandiego is still MIA, but we found her coat.
There were lots of people renting these boats. One group even had a little hibachi which seems, um, less than safe for a wooden boat.
About an hour south of Stuttgart is Tübingen, a picturesque college town filled with historic buildings, winding streets, and cute shops and cafés.
Doug and Sven wait patiently while I run around the platz taking photos.
We stopped by the Ritter Sport factory on the way to Tübingen. They have a cute shop that sells all their myriad flavors and a tiny museum to tell the history of the company.
Jeff and Russ were kind enough to invite me to accompany them to the Middleburg Hunt races on Sunday. Russ’s kind friends had a primo spot on the rail and a lovely tailgate set up. The weather was less than perfect (you can see the rain in some of the photos,) but we happily sipped cocktails, and munched on fried chicken and tenderloin, and cheered the tiny, funny-dressed men on horseback nonetheless.
